The end of a year, an Administration, and a Congress is sneaking up on us. There will be a lot of news over the next couple of months.

For now, we speculate!

Today I thought I’d share a resource worth bookmarking.

Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill

The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 expanded the types of supplemental benefits that can be offered to beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions. The item or service must have a reasonable expectation of improving or maintaining health or function.

Beginning in 2025, Medicare Advantage plans must be able to demonstrate that all benefits chosen by a plan meet the requirements for a “reasonable expectation of improving health or overall function of an enrollee with chronic conditions.”

The Better Medicare Alliance, with research conducted by ATI Advisory, published this free tool that allows the public and plans to review the research to support various SSBCI benefits.

I create quick “new subscriber” survey a few months ago, so most subscribers since then have completed it. If you haven’t, would you consider taking 30 seconds to do it now? It will let my emails use your name in the greeting, so that’s cool! It’s 4 multiple choice and one quick answer to “Please share topics, terms, or anything else you want to understand related to value-based care.”

Thanks for reading and continuing to allow my newsletter to land in your inbox!

All the best,
